This was the day that i met Pam and changed my life for ever.I was out celebrating my 21st Birthday in Liverpool City Centre with a friend,Andy Hogg.Whilst waiting for a taxi home we met 2 girls sheltering under an umbrella. When the taxi arrived for them, me being the cheeky one decided to jump in too and directed the driver to my parents home where i promised Pam and her friend a coffee!! and to enable myself to sober up enough to drive them home. After a few hours and after waking my family up in the small morning hours with Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell anthem blaring i drove Pam home to Kirkby. On saying goodnight she passed me her phone number.I was on cloud nine the next morning thinking i had "pulled" but realised i could not find the paper with her number on.I frantically searched my car fearing i had lost it but luckily found it under the driver's seat.It took me 4 or 5 days to pluck up the courage to ring her, fearing that when she was sober she would say "thanks but no thanks".However she agreed to meet up again and our relationship began.Pam was still living with her mum Vera,(who was divorced from Pam's father Harry,)her brother Peter and sister Debbie still lived at home too.A few weeks later it was Easter and Pam invited me out with her family to the Royal Navy Social Club in Kirkby where i was to meet some of my future extended family members.I recall being nervous walking up her path to take her to the club only to be inspected from the top bedroom window by her elder sisters Rose and Cathy.I also met Tony, my future brother in law who was dating Rose at this time.Pam and i have shared wonderful memories with all our familiy. Our first holiday abroad was to spain with Vera,Alan(Vera's boyfriend),Rose,Tony,Debbie & 18 month old Claire. We had a great time dining, dancing and drinking the Club International Champagne!!!.Over the next few years Pam and i often visited Cathy who lives in London and with whom we shared so many hours together. We often went on holidays together with Cathy & Rose and i recall spending a "Potters Weekend" in Lowestoft with Pam,Rose,Tony,Cathy and Chris (Cathy's first husband). It was an activity weekend with booze thrown in.I still cannot understand how Pam won a silver medal for archery though she only had good sight in one eye!!Pam and i got engaged in March 1985 though she refused to marry me when asked later that year and also in Tenerife in 1986.We moved to our first house in Aintree,Liverpool in October 1985.She eventually said yes to my repeated requests (maybe just to shut me up) and we married on 23rd may 1987 and held our honeymoon in Magaluf,Spain!!
